With over 10 years’ experience of living and working
in the Gulf Region Lance has developed close relationships
with a broad spectrum of investors across the Middle East.
Additionally, he has worked extensively with investors across
Western Europe.
Following a career as an officer in the British military,
Lance joined Banque Indosuez’ Bahrain Office in 1995
and he spent 2 years placing private equity and venture
funds across the Middle East. On return to UK, Lance worked
with Merrill Lynch and Coutts & Co., continuing to introduce
buyout teams to investors, before joining Dresdner Kleinwort
Benson’s Private Equity team in 1999. He established
Cygnus Capital in early 2002.
Lance has a marketing-oriented MBA from Henley Management
College and he speaks Arabic, and some German and French.
A keen sportsman, he has represented Great Britain at World
Championship level in the bobsleigh team and as a sailor.
Lance has worked
with a wide range of alternative fund managers, including:
Gartmore, Suez Asia Equity Associates, Wasserstein Perella,
Bridgepoint, SVG Capital, Energy Investors Fund, August
Capital, HBM BioCapital, Mistral Windfarms, and Chicago
Growth Partners. Since establishing Cygnus Capital he has
also undertaken some major private placement mandates in
the Gulf Region, including the financing of CNBC Arabia,
the first pan-Arab satellite business TV station.
